Industry: Heavy Vehicle Engineering
Application: Tipping Truck and Trailer – Trident Axle Prime Mover
Client: Heavy Vehicle OEM
Technology: OMFB Pacific TREND 8-Function Wireless Pneumatic Control
Deliverable: Remote-Controlled Pneumatic System with Integrated Safety Features
Project Overview
A long-term OEM partner engaged OMFB Pacific to engineer a complete pneumatic control system for a new tipping truck and trailer combination, built on a Trident axle prime mover.
The project required a multi-function tipping control system, with a key client request: replacing traditional in-cab hand controls with a wireless remote solution. This would allow the operator full mobility and improved usability outside the cabin—without compromising on reliability or safety.
The primary challenge was delivering a robust, remote-controlled system that could manage both truck and trailer functions, while maintaining a compact and serviceable design for easy installation and long-term support.
Solution: TREND 8-Function Wireless Pneumatic Control System
OMFB Pacific designed and delivered a fully integrated control system based on the TREND wireless remote control—capable of handling 8 independent pneumatic functions.
Key system components included:
-
TREND Wireless Handheld Remote paired with chassis-mounted receiver
-
Emergency Stop (E-Stop) functionality for enhanced operational safety
-
Eight solenoid valves enclosed in a stainless steel control box
-
Master/slave control logic, enabling smooth coordination between truck and trailer
-
All components are selected for rugged reliability and easy integration into the vehicle platform
Results & Performance
The system was successfully installed, tested, and commissioned, delivering measurable improvements in functionality and usability.
Performance highlights:
-
Immediate and stable wireless response across all tipping functions
-
Positive operator feedback on usability and ergonomics
-
Fast, modular installation with minimal wiring complexity
-
System exceeded client expectations in both performance and presentation
Following successful implementation, the client plans to offer the TREND-based wireless control as a premium upgrade option on future vehicle builds.
